Somewhere around 1975 I was involved with a Jewish youth group theatrical competition in Montevideo, Uruguay. On the opposing team, there was an extraordinary guitar player named Candrulo who performed this piece. My team didn’t win the competition, and I don’t honestly remember if Candrulo’s team did either, but I have been playing this piece – which I named after him – ever since. I don’t know Candrulo’s real name and I don’t know where this piece originated but I am told that today Candrulo is a prominent composer and orchestra director living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Gracias Candrulo!
